My question is: who are the crests of our time? Why are most do most of the best sellers pale in comparison to the greats? What makes someone a great writer? (It can't just be sales) and..Where is literature heading? (It seems to be far less important than it use to be)

Which is the easiest to read?

Definitely J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye hands down. It is the most modern and easiest to relate to and it doesn't have long dry or boring passages in my opinion. It also has an interesting story line that will probably appeal to you more than the others. The grapes of Wrath is more of an epic saga, it is interesting but I found it to be a bit slow at times.. It is however very descriptive. My second choice would be Steinbeck.

A good book is Gone, Baby,Gone. but it's the 4th one of a series by Dennis Lehane ,but alot of his books are good from that series in order is, A Drink Before the War, Darkness Take my Hand, sacred, Gone, Baby, Gone, Prayers for Rain, and Moonlight Mile.Those are the Kenzie and Gennaro series, some other separate books by him are Shutter Island and Mystic River which are also very good. Another good book I liked was My sisters keeper, way different(better) than the movie by Jodi Picoult, but have heard good things about her other books.

Being drunk is no excuse for this so called friend of yours. First of all I would not trust her. You really do not know what exactly the relationship is between her and your ex-boyfriend. Also a true friend would not speak to in the way she has. Maybe she does have mixed feelings about her sexuality.In that case you want to stay away. Whether or not she was drunk I do believe people say things they really feel and do not have the guts to say it when they are sober. If this friendship was really worth it I would tell her what she said to you(although I think she knows) and just confront her. See what her reaction is. And for you I think you do know whats up. You sound like a nice person who may have a self-esteem issue.Try to change the group you have been hanging out with as you are moving way too fast for your age. Positive people have positive effect. I know this may sound out of reach for you but you could do something that will give you self-esteem and that is to volunteer in your area. Mortal kombat 9 or, undeniable knowledge?

You remind me of myself, but when i was a younger age. In elementary school and early middle school, I always read books all the time like that. Now i'm more into videogames, but I still enjoy reading. I would suggest getting Mortal 9, and not just because I really enjoy videogames now. First of all, it is a very enjoyable game. Second, you can always get those books at a public library, although i understand your point about your "collection". It's always nice to actually own the books. In my opinion, you should get Mortal Kombat first, then when you get some more money, buy the books. You can always buy the books off of amazon for cheaper prices than Barnes and Noble, and if you don't mind reading electronically, you could get them on your computer or idevice. I would also suggest acquiring the book "Candid" by Voltair. First things first.. What an emotional story! I feel for you, truly. I lost my grandad to Huntington's disease a number of years ago and in the final stages it can be painful to witness. Luckily like yourself I don't carry the defective gene, for which I'm eternally grateful. Your brother, bless his soul, must have been in a very bad place mentally at the time, but you can surely take some solace in the fact that he didn't suffer for the final few brutal years of the illness. In regards to your dreams, in my opinion they will be caused both by your PTSD and your medication. They sound extremely vivid and dreams like that can confuse/scare/bewilder us. I agree with the above answer that writing your dreams down after they've woke you up may help you make sense of it all. And I also agree with the other comment in the sense that, although you have suffered all this loss and pain, you are still here. Make a difference, raise money for the cause to defeat the illness that took your loved ones (Huntington's Disease Association) so that you can feel proud in the fact you may have spared someone else the same pain that you've felt. Keep your head held high and above all enjoy life! It only happens once. I truly wish you the best of luck in your life and I hope you succeed in making some sense of it all.

I've read "The Jungle" and "The Grapes of Wrath" and I enjoyed both of them. Of the two, I'd choose The Grapes of Wrath. "The Jungle" is very realistic and vivid, but the final chapters sound like a political harangue, and spoil an otherwise excellent novel - which, incidentally, is based on historical fact.

I have been having this sharp stabbing throbbing pain under my left rib cage...I doesnt hurt anymore when i breath in so I doubt it is a broken rib and touching my ribs does not hurt at all. Its under my ribs. The other night it was hurting so bad I couldnt sleep and was almost in tears all night. I finally feel asleep and woke up at about 6 and was fine. I know that there are plenty of places to order essential oils, and delicious scents that come in one form or another for around the home, but their patchouli was perfect, in my opinion. What is you schools max GPA? If it is 4.0 then your GPA is pretty good. If it is 5.0 then that definitely needs to go up. The SAT score definitely needs to go up if you want to get into Duke. You have a lot of extracurricular activities and community service, which definitely helps. Take as many AP courses as you can, colleges love those and you get some credit for them as well. If you can raise your SAT then you can definitely get into at least half of your top five.

What does this all mean?

I'm really confused about how I feel. I'm a girl and I currently have a girlfriend but sometimes I don't feel like I'm really gay but I don't feel like I'm straight or bi either. When it comes to women physically and emotionally I feel way more attracted to them than I do to men. I almost never find a guy attractive or even notice them but I seem to find multiple girls attractive and think about dating them. "Emma" by Jane Austen is a great read! Well, honestly, any Jane Austen book is a great read. If you've ever seen the movie Clueless, you'll love reading Emma and noticing all of the little similarities between the two. I believe that Clueless is actually loosely based on Emma, as a matter of fact. Read it, love it, then give Pride and Prejudice a go!

Can you trade in a car that you have a Drive Time (DT) Loan on at another dealership?

I have a car loan through Drive Time (DT Financial Corp) and i was entertaining the idea since my credit has improved drastically of getting a new car. My 11 month old female cat is hissing, growling & attacking my 3 young female cats... I have 8 cats all together... but my female cat bella if fine with the older cats - She just attacks her sister and the 2 younger cats... the 2 younger cats are also female the 1 is about 8 monthes and the other 1 is 8 weeks. Apart from the 8 week old cat have been spayed so thats not it... Up untill about a month ago bella and her sister and the other cats used to cuddle up together eat from the same bowls and licked eachother.. but all of a sudden bella has been hissing at them and recently hissing at me.. but when shes in a room on her own and i go in there shes fine with me and puurs and licks me.. its just when she sees the other 3.. But i only just had the 8 week old kitten last week and she was like it a few weeks before that so its not the new kitten doing it. So i really dont know why bella is doing it... she goes out alot longer than the other cats?? Maybe thats why???

Hi, my name is Chrystian.. I'm considering entering Job Corp this August, but need a bit of Information on it, that the official Job Corp website does not provide. Firstly, I'll be 16 this August, so I'm old enough. I'm supposed to be in 10th grade this year but dropped out two years ago... Marine Corp question. Please help?

Okay. So here is my plan. I don't expect it to go exactly as planned so don't be bashing me or whatever. I really wan to join the Marine Corp. I am a junior in high school and being a Marine is something I have wanted since freshmen year. I want to graduate high school and enlist in the Marines. However, after I get out of boot camp, I want to join the reserves and go to college to get at least a 4 year degree. My plans after that is to switch to active duty and hopefully get an MOS as an engineer of some sort. Would all of this be possible? Like can I join the reserves, goto college, then come back and be an engineer for the marines? Sorry for such the long explanation, I just really want some specific info for once. Thanks ahead of time. And if you could, I would like to know what all a marine Corp engineer does and what I can do as a civilian after I am done serving by using what I learned in the Marine Corp.

Why does my 1 year old kitten/cat attack scratch and bite my face and hair?

My fiance and I adopted 2 cats from a local shelter about 5 months ago. Karl (our 2 year old neutered male) is soooo sweet and smart and he loves to jump and play. Karl can jump for a toy/treat over 4 feet! He also sleeps in our bed at night, right next to my head. <3 Raja on the other hand... he likes to hide and can only eat a treat if its hand fed from me. Raja is younger (vet thinks about 8 months) and he is very aggressive. I feel that he is this way because my fiance FORCES him to cuddle and be held... I let raja go free when he cries, my fiance does not. He says that all cats learn to be cute after this... I think its making raja more mean. What do you think? I could really use some help/support here because I have never had indoor cats before this. Also, Raja scratches my fiance's face HARD and makes him bleed nearly every day. I don't like this behavior but I feel like its not the cats fault.
