Were there planes/bombers called "Hot Doggers" in WWII?

My Grandfather was in the Air Corp and stationed in Europe during WWII. I thought he mentioned planes/bombers he worked on called "Hot Doggers". Because of his passing years ago, i cant remember if that's what he called them, but i could have sworn that's what he said. I assumed that is a nickname the guys called the planes. I was wondering if they exist or not and what type of plane they are? Id like to read up on the planes he worked on and your help on this would be appreciated... Any info you have would be great...
