Credit and Renting a house in CA?

My husband is in the Marine Corp has been for 5 years. We bought a house in beginning of 2010 and prior to that rented at house with perfect on time payments. I looked at his credit report and it is a 560 I looked why and there are credit card and some random debt known above $600. We just got news that we are going to be getting orders for Cali and we are currently in NC my question is when we sell this house and go to rent in Cali are we gonna have a problem with his credit? Thank you we wont be moving till next year so this debt will be paid by then.
