So what does this say about American politics today?

Vitter, Weiner and Palin stories tell us that the public is easily distracted from the real issues. The pathetic line up of Republican Party candidates tells us that the voting public hasn't learned from its mistakes and that decent candidates don't have enough faith in our democracy to participate at the candidate level.
