Sharp stabbing pain under left rib cage?

I have been having this sharp stabbing throbbing pain under my left rib cage...I doesnt hurt anymore when i breath in so I doubt it is a broken rib and touching my ribs does not hurt at all. Its under my ribs. The other night it was hurting so bad I couldnt sleep and was almost in tears all night. I finally feel asleep and woke up at about 6 and was fine. The pain has come and gone since and now its back. I have felt very light headed all day...What could this be...Should I go to the ER...My husband is acting like im being a baby...Hes in the Marine corp and thinks I should just be though about everything LOL...Neways thanks so much for your advice!!!!
